Antique Skate Shop and FOR PIVOTS SAKE’S goal is to collect boards and other skate equipment, create awareness about the FPS program and fundraise so that every youth has the opportunity to be active and try skateboarding.

Where we've been

It all began in 2012 when a group of Ottawa skateboarders were tired of seeing their used skateboard equipment end up in the landfill.

“There is a large group of older skateboarders who upgrade or change their boards before they are at the end of their life span and we were sick of seeing them in the trash,” stated Aaron Cayer, owner of Antique Skate Shop

After years of throwing out used decks, seeing old trucks get tossed aside and wheels left forgotten at the skate park, FOR PIVOTS SAKE decided to step up and try to reduce, reuse and recycle.

With tremendous support from the skate and greater community, FPS have successfully worked on finding a way to recycle all this used skateboard equipment and create and support skateboard programming that encourages active play, creativity, pride and mentorship.

When FOR PIVOTS SAKE dropped off the first batch of complete skateboards in its first year running the program, they had no idea how appreciative and excited the youth were to be receiving the boards.
